Here's how you can get the perfect baked potato every single time!


1 Russet potato per person


Preheat the oven to 220C and arrange a rack in the middle of the oven.

Scrub the potatoes clean under running water and pat dry. Trim away any blemishes.

Rub the potato with oil and generously season with salt and pepper. Prick the potatoes all over with a fork to allow the steam to escape.

Bake the potatoes on the rack or place them on foil-lined baking tray. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, flipping the potatoes over every 20 minutes. Check how the potatoes are doing by pricking with a fork. The potatoes are ready when the skins are dry and the insides feel completely soft.

Cut open and add butter to serve!
