Latin Name: Prunus spinosa syn. Prunus moldavica, Prunus stepposa.
Plant Family: Rosaceae

Other Names: Blackthorn, Sloe Berry, Mother of the Wood, Wishing Thorn, Slae, Scroggs, Snag, La Mere du Bois and Wild Plum.

Description: These blackish blue, dried berries may have a sour flavour and bitter taste but when preserved they have delicious hints of fruity plum. You probably recognise the name of these beautiful berries from everyone’s favourite alcoholic beverage… Sloe Gin!

SUGGESTED USE

It’s always gin o’clock with our Sloe Berries! Flavour Dried Sloe Berries with orange zest, cloves, and cinnamon then preserve them as a sloe gin, sloe wine, sloe, jelly, sloe syrup or sloe plum cheese!
